Summary:The aim of this paper is to establish a unified state equation of overhead line mechanics. An accurate calculation method of non-uniform load sag is proposed based on the simply supported beam theory. It is suitable for isolated span and continuous span. Meanwhile, this paper investigates the law and error influence of sag in both isolated pan and continuous span considering some sensitive factors, such as tensile force, span length, number of spans, elevation difference angle, length and weight of tension insulator string. The efficacy of the recommended algorithm for conductor sag with large-tonnage tension insulator string line is validated in the end.
