Description
Summary:The prisons in Latin America live a crisis that exists in a continent that suffers from endemic violence and inequality. Faced with this crisis, education in prisons and the work are social inclusion strategies of prisoners. We observe that more and more programs and laws to promote the work in the prison systems in Latin America. But these initiatives face different obstacles, first there is a counterproductive competition between labor and educational activities, we insist that both should be complementary to achieve a successful social inclusion. In an overview of the Latin American programs, we insist that labor activities should be undertaken for the benefit of the internal and not the many private companies that produce in penitentiaries, so it is recommended that both the cooperative promotion as the collaboration of ONGs in strategies comprehensive ranging from remission of sentence to the improvement in prison conditions.
