Description
Summary:This article seeks to examine the causes that prevent women from exercising and enjoying certain rights that are recognised in the Constitution and in law. To this end, we first explain the significance of the social power relations known as gender relations, which survive as long as the patriarchal structure of society survives. After a summary description of the main characteristics of this structure, and a brief definition of gender relations and the position of men and women in these relations, we provide examples of the historical construction of gender, and then focus on one of the most serious forms of inequality and discrimination suffered by women: domestic violence.
