Summary:The Caribbean gained international recognition, especially in western collective imagination, as an appropriate space for idleness tourism. Nevertheless, Caribbean countries have been promoting for several years a process of diversification of its touristic offer that seduces more and more visitors. Therefore, this paper intends to analyze the impulsion given to the new kinds of tourism offered by the Caribbean, their implementation in a space that, despite everything, is far from being monolithic, as well as the societal and cultural effects they underlie.
