Description
Summary:Introduction: chronic renal disease covers a spectrum of clinical dysfunctions ranging from detectable alterations only by laboratory tests of uremia. Objective: to determine the presence of Occult Renal Disease (ORD) in patients admitted at Dr. Enrique Cabrera General Teaching Hospital in the Internal Medicine Service during the period from January 2018 to January 2019. Methods: an observational, descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study was conducted. The population analyzed in the study consisted of 171 patients diagnosed with occult chronic renal disease, including all of them. An interview, physical examination, laboratory examination and review of their clinical history were carried out to collect the general data of all patients. Ethical principles were met. Results: female gender (64,33 %), the age group under 50 years old along with 60 to 69 years old predominated; both with 33,33 %. Microalbuminuria was positive in 65,5 % of patients, followed by hypertension in stages 2 (33,33 %), 3b (69,44) and 4 (83,33); in stage 3a in type 2 diabetes mellitus (58,33 %). Stage 1 was found in 28,65 % of patients. Conclusions: occult chronic renal disease occurred mainly in female gender over the fifth decade of life with positive microalbuminuria and a history of hypertension as risk factors; the highest incidence was found in the early stages of the disease.
