الملخص:Leaning back on the context of the creation of numerous dance groups within Cambodian associations in France since 1976, the paper questions the variability of the issues attached to the transmission of Cambodian dances in France, in particular those adapted to the stage called “classical” (or “royal”) and “folk” dances. Along time, the relevance of dance groups appears to vary according to their context of creation and development, as well as to the nature of the link they maintain with the country of origin. From the point of view of learners of Cambodian origin, it can refer, more or less significantly, to the research and the affirmation of a positive identity or to the desire to master rigorous embodied techniques. Thus, the learning of Cambodian stage dances in France is accompanied, in a more or less pronounced way, by the acquisition of various skills and values, some of which are embodied. In addition to motivations related to a quest for personal identity, or the desire to master an art which is now valued on the international stage, some among the classical dance students see themselves invested by their teachers with a role in the preservation of this dance, on a scale that goes beyond the French national framework. By extension, and through the establishment of links between professional dancers based in Phnom Penh and troupes based in Paris, the bodies of young French classical dancers of Cambodian origin now take their place at the heart of strategies aimed at legitimizing new figures of authority in the field of dance and in the wider political framework of Cambodian constitutional monarchy.
