Description
Summary:In the last ten years, the development of financial realm in Brazil point out some aspects and limitations of globalization. At first, we see the Brazilian economic élites talking the habitual financial tongue, seeming to be just an outpost of Wall Street banks & firms. Otherwise, a more dense regard offers a different picture. Even if the language is the same, the history and uses of financial tools shows a process of hybridization with the Brazilian economic customs. We shall see those ambiguities following the development of corporate governance and private equity funds in the land. The history of those two big trends in present Brazilian financial champ, the people who acts there and the constraints they must cope with show us a particular configuration in which the tools and ideas seems to be at same time like everywhere and in the wrong place.
