Summary:Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is a scanning probe technology based on Faraday current changes when an ultramicroelectrode is moved across a sample surface, which can directly reflect the surface topography and electrochemical information on the sample through imaging. This Review briefly introduces the basic SECM, including its developmental history and working mode. The application of SECM imaging in energy catalysis is mainly introduced, and the development trend of SECM is described briefly.
