Summary:This paper summarizes research results regarding levels of conceptualization reached by two groupsof deaf children and youths, users of the Colombian Sign Language, in a colombian intermediate city, about a few spatialnotions related to Social Studies. The research was based on the recognition of the local Sign Language as the naturallanguage of deaf people, but it is necessary to clarify that the participants in the research study were influenced by oralisteducation. The methodological strategy of this study can be described as exploratory and polycyclic, with both qualitative andquantitative aspects in continuous phases where results modified the research problem.
