description The objective of this article is to analyze how normalism as a pedagogical current was inserted in Paraguayan Education in tune with hygienist and positivist ideas that influenced the social and political configuration of a country where corporal subjection, authoritarianism and exclusion have been constant throughout the XIX and XX centuries. In addition, it reflects on the need to restore to indigenous peoples and peasant populations, the word, dignity and respect that were denied them for so many years.
