Description
Summary:This article presents and discusses Ailton Krenak interpretation of contemporary Brazil in the text "Não se comedinheiro" (One does not eat money). His objective, sensitive and ironic language enables the exercise that instigates reflection on the critical perception of the indigenous leader about the themes: environment, society, the COVID-19 pandemic, visions about the future of the planet amid the advances of capitalist practices that perpetuate and condition this chaotic situation. Thinking about a Brazil from the perspective of the nativepeople who have built anti-colonialist and anti-capitalist trajectories, they are pertinent issues that will be detailed in the course of this writing. From the methodological point of view, this research will carry out a selection and critical analysis of books, articles and digital sources (videos available on the Youtube platform). We have significant amounts of articles available on the internet, as well as videos, which due to the pandemic period caused the growth of audiovisual productions. According to Almeida (2011), the digital resources are presented as documentary typology for the development of investigations on the study of history in the present time, and they can be valid as primary sources. In the first section of the article, we will point out part of Ailton Krenak's trajectory as anindigenous intellectual, and in the second section we will focus on his narrative of contemporary Brazil. Reading and analysing indigenous authors will enable us to get in touch with their knowledge, their ways of seeing the world and their struggles. This research will be another contribution to the Indigenous History that dialogues with perspectives brought by the History of Present Time.
