Description
Summary:Although landscape has been an important subject in the french school of geography since the end of the 19th century with Paul Vidal de la Blache, there is no unanimous approach to study landscape and there is still a division amongst geographers. For some landscape is a central concept in geography, for others the notion is too restrictive and subjective. This paper is an attempt to estimate the importance of landscape studies in the regional geographical journal « Hommes et Terres du Nord » since its creation in 1963. The analysis of papers shows the diversity of studied landscapes and developed approaches. As well it highlights the different phases in the build up of the problematic of landscape.
