description In this study, an approach has been developed to determine a scaling ratio between different scaled solid models designed in a CAD Computer Aided Design (CAD) environment. STEP data exchange format of solid models is used as input to approach. Automatic STEP conversion of solid models designed in a CAD environment is performed and then STEP file is mapped into a face-edge relation matrix by means of its evaluations. Nondimensional similarity assessment is conducted between these two matrices by obtaining a matrix from the database corresponding to matrix of new design. If a full matching between face adjacency relations and nondimensional attributes represented in both matrices exists, scaling assessment is done between parts. A ratio between dimensional attributes of two matrices is investigated. If this ratio exists, the approach is calculated a scaling ratio between two parts.
