description | Taking account of the object of study and of the type of musical and pedagogical practices found in the monographies written by undergraduate students from the professionalization program Creative Colombia (first cohort), it could be argued that their musical and pedagogical knowledge is not egocentrically centered in themselves, and that, on the contrary, they try to build bridges and interconnections with other arts and areas of knowledge, proving thus that the musical art is an essential part of their daily work and constitutes a vivid experience in terms of cultural transformation. There were then proposed several processes of social change in the realm of the school’s micro-universe, the classroom, the town’s Cultural House, its municipal band, etc. In those various processes, the music teacher was seen as a political person capable of using his musical knowledge to mediate in social realities, as a musicianmediator.
So, it became clear that the real task was not to form mere musical trainers, but cultural mediators who may understand their artistic practice and teaching as an opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of culture, as well as the means to transform it. Along the whole process, the students leaned on the trend and perspective of constructivism. |
