| Summary: | Public health disaster is linked positively to security and socio-economic development because epidemics and pandemics threaten human health and hurt economic and socio-political life. The outbreak of COVID-19 is an excellent example. It caused anxiety, fear, and worry. It also disrupts the economic and socio-political life of people. Therefore, there is a connection between health, environment, and security. These three elements connect all human beings directly or indirectly. Africa and West Africa have witnessed some epidemics like Ebola and lesser fever that threatened the region and the global community in the recent past. Health, environment, disease, and divinity in Africa are linked because ill health is understood from religious and environmental backgrounds. Hence, this paper looks at the connection between public health disasters with the environment in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic from an African perspective. It focuses on infectious diseases as a menace to economic, security, and social life. It concludes that African countries have done well thus far in the fight against COVID-19 through solidarity and cooperation.
