Description
Summary:http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/217976927827 Aim: the aim was to characterize children/adolescents in treatment at Children's Psychosocial Care Center (CPCC) and describe their special healthcare needs (SHCN). Methods: documentary research, quantitative approach. We evaluated the 139 records of children/adolescents in treatment at CPCC in 2010. The data were submitted to descriptive statistics. Results: it was found that all belong to the group of children with SHCN. The male had a greater tendency for developing SHCN, adolescence was the most vulnerable phase, and the aggressiveness was the main complaint. The family constitution was single parent and household income proved insufficient. Conclusion: the SHCN this population needs to be recognized to subsidize the restructuring of services and to update the health professionals. We recommend planning preventive strategies for this population, considering that many of the conditions identified may represent risks for future mental health.
