description The article analyzes the role and place of the episcopate of the Church of England in the Constitutional Revolution (1828-1832), which was the turning point in the process of democratization of English state. Reaction of the bishops on the last act of the Constitutional Revolution was most negative, because the parliamentary reform very seriously undermined the Ancient Regime in England, and the Church was the important part of it. At the same time part of the bishops understood the inevitability of social changes and was able to change position and to support the idea of reform.
