Description
Summary:Referring to the Geography of rural areas, this paper analyzes the main features of the traditional settlements in the Apennines. It provides a synthetic and exhaustive picture of a partially abandoned realm, whose traces, however, reflect in the contemporary world influencing its social and economic fabric. Specifically, the study aims at highlighting the structural and functional characteristics of the historical houses of the Appennino Piacentino, located beyond the limits of the Roman centuriation. The current deterioration and abandonment of the area should question experts, politicians and citizens in order to implement an effective local development plan for the regeneration of the whole territorial system.
