It then concentrates on the intellectual impact of the processes of transition toward democracy in various parts of Latin America and the appearance of medium range theories which attempted to show the rationality of these occurrences. Finally, it sets out some of the challenges faced by the most recent approaches to democratictransition in light of the theoretical framework mapped out in the course of the article. |
