Description
Summary:This paper analyzes the pattern of specialization of international trade in the state of Paraná, identifying the most dynamic productive sectors between 1999 and 2014. In this sense, the following indicators were calculated: the Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage index (RSCAik), the Intra-industry trade indicator (IIT), the Industry Concentration of Exports (ICSij) index and the Imports coverage ratio (TCij). Data were obtained from the Foreign Trade Office – Secex. The results indicated that the export portfolio continues to be predominantly composed of sectors based on natural resources and the traditional manufacturing industry, such as wood, food / tobacco, beverages, and transport equipment. Thus, it is clear that the sectors specialized in international trade are those with conventional comparative advantages, although it was identified the existence of intra-industry trade in specific sectors.
