description Introduction: Pichubandhana is a Bahirparimarjana chikitsa adopted from Shiropichu. Shiropichu is one among the Murdhnitaila, in which Uttarottara procedures are considered better than the previous. Pichubandhana is a process of placing the oil-immersed cotton cloth over the affected area and then the bandage is tied over it. Vatakantaka is a painful condition, in which the person cannot walk properly, thereby hampering the subject's day-to-day life. In Vatakantaka, patients experience pain in the heel region similar to the prick of thorn. Heel pain is a common symptom in the general population, particularly in adults ages ≥18 years ranges from 17 to 24% rising to as high as 42% in adults ages >65 years. Hence, it is the need of the hour to focus on effective practices which yield good results. Hence, the present study, Padapichubandhana with and without Trayodashangaguggulu was taken with the intention to analyze the effectiveness in providing relief of pain. Methods: A total of 40 subjects of Vatakantaka were divided into two groups. Group PP – Subjects were given PadapichuBandhana. Group PP and TG – Subjects were given PadapichuBandhana and TrayodashangaGuggulu (two tablets of 500 mg three times a day). The progress of the study was based on the assessment parameters (both subjective and objective) on 0 days, 7th days, 14th days, and 28th days. Results: The study was found to be statistically significant in relieving the pain, tenderness, and range of movement (AkuncanaPrasarana), (P < 0.05). Conclusion: From the study, it is concluded that Padapichubandhana is also sufficient enough to reduce the signs and symptoms of Vatakantaka.
