Description
Summary:The main goal of this research work was: to develop a general kinetics model of ionic exchange that includes diffusion and ionic migration fluxes in a mass transfer process controlled by a liquid phase and to validate it with a set of experimental data obtained with a batch reactor for the Cadmium-Hydrogen system on a polyestirene synthetic resin. The results show that the proposed model can predict the ion-exchange kinetics under operating variables that favors the liquid phase control such as: Cd:++ concentrations in liquid phase lower than 10 ppm, higher temperatures pH in the acid range, co-ion from strong electrolyte and Dowex resin 50W-X8 of lower size.
