| Summary: | The paper touches upon such a complex phenomenon as foreign word translation by means of another language. It deals with the questions of intermediary Vietnamese loan-words translation into Russian. The paper describes several ways (with advantages and disadvantages) of their translation into Russian. The author gives some reasons of doubling the forms appearing in Russian texts: the existence of two ways of word borrowing (directly from Vietnamese and through English as a lingua franca), contradictions between the direct translation from Vietnamese into Russian and the use of English-Russian correlation, the prevailing of the written way of word borrowing, and some technical problems connected with the Vietnamese Latin script transliterating. The ways of solving the problem are proposed. |
