Description
Summary:The subject of the present study is an analysis of urban flood risk for the city of Bacău in case of an extreme event situation, namely the failure of Izvorul Muntelui dam. Multi-criteria spatial methods have been applied in qualitative risk analysis to obtain a map of physical vulnerability by interpreting the data regarding the characteristics of each building within the areas prone to flooding. The social vulnerability was determined by using the same research method with a certain degree of uncertainty due to insufficient data available. The final result, the flood vulnerability map, obtained by interpolating the two variables – social vulnerability and physical vulnerability – can be used to support a more effective risk management.
