Description
Summary:“Long Life for All” being the theme for this year’s World Immunization Week 2022, celebrated annually in the last week of April (24 to 30th April) aims to unite people on the idea that vaccines make it possible for people to pursue their dreams, protect loved ones and live a long and healthy life. It aims to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease. Immunization is one of the world’s most successful and cost-effective health interventions available to avert vaccine preventable diseases and deaths. Since at least the 1400s, people have looked for ways to protect themselves against infectious disease. From the practice of “variolation” in the 15th century to today’s mRNA vaccines, immunization has a long history. For over two centuries, vaccines have helped in keeping people healthy starting from the first vaccine that was developed to provide protection against smallpox to the latest ones that are being used to prevent COVID-19
