Summary: | Opuses in the suite genre represent a significant part in Gheorghe Neaga’s instrumental chamber repertoire, but also keep
an important place in the gold heritage of the autochthonous chamber music. And one of the compositions that perfectly reflects
the author’s artistic predilections, influenced more or less by the evolution of the compositional techniques, is the Suite for
string quartet, the contents of which evoke the characteristics of the compositional expression from the beginning of G. Neaga’s career. The premises of this work are not so special, but the result is a súi-géneris one. Composed in 1965 in just a few days, the suite was written at first sight as a small and disproportionate opus. However, eluding the balanced relationship between the mouvements, Gheorghe Neaga caused some consequences that intrigue at least from a musicological point of view. |
