All the poems which are considered “Paththupattu” constitute a work of art which expresses the life of a Tamil race, culture, heritage, trait and civilization of the Tamil people. Thus, this research study is based on hospitality as portrayed in “Paththupattu”. Half of the books in “Paththupattu” books are called ‘Aatrupadai’ (hospitality and compassion) books. The Aatrupadai Literature often conveys the message of the hospitality of Tamil society. This article provides the details of the hospitality provided by the king to the poets, artists and other needy people, with food, clothing, shelter etc. |
