| description | Since the 1990s, Agriculture and City have seen their interactions evolve from logics of confrontation to logics of articulation. This evolution can be seen particularly in some management operations, such as land consolidation, which has become land development, today’s agricultural is integrated urban projects. Going beyond a simple re- allocation of land parcels, these operations show a renewal of tools and procedures but also the affirmation of local initiatives from both the farming community and elected officials, who agree on a new development of the role of agriculture in the making of the city.Examples of land development in several grain-growing areas of Yvelines near Paris, show the continuous adaptation of models to suit the local governance process. They also question the role of large-scale agriculture in the metropolitan equilibrium, since vegetable farming is often considered as a major vector in the renewal of urban-rural relations. |
