description | To what extent can translation studies and design theories be scientific? It is on the basis of the metaphors used in the field of translation studies and their possible transposition to design and its theories that this question emerges. This article sheds light on the foundations of this transposition and, in doing so, sheds light on the epistemological weaknesses that these two disciplines share to the point that the first could be considered as paradigmatic for the second. Without closing the debate, he encourages his reader to ask himself whether it would not be better to give up all scientificity to think of these two disciplines as “exact arts”. |
