Summary: | By analysing the rhetoric use Heine made of the notion of “intuitive understanding”, in particular in his polemic attack on Victor Cousin, we show the traces left in Heine’s work by his direct reception of Kant and measure the distance separating him from Hegel with regard to questions of method. This leads to a revision of Heine’s philosophical position which seems closer to Kant and thus to neokantianism than to Hegel. |
