description Aim:Our aim was to evaluate the diagnostic strength of uterine arteries (UA) pulsatility index (PI) and resistance index (RI) in the detection of pre-invasive cervical lesions.Materials and Methods:Data were prospectively collected from a total of 225 patients who were diagnosed with cervical ıntraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 1 (Group 1) (n=75) and CIN-2/3 (Group 2) (n=75) by colposcopy-guided cervical biopsy previously and from patients with normal cytology assigned as control (Group 3) (n=75). PI and RI of UA were determined by Doppler sonography and the results were compared among the groups. Results:The mean UA-PI values were found to be 2.52±0.9, 2.51±0.9, and 2.53±0.3 in Group 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The mean UA-RI values were observed as 0.83±0.7, 0.81±0.25, and 0.84±0.1 in Group 1, 2, and 3, respectively. However, UA-PI and UA-RI values were not significantly different among the groups (p>0.05).Conclusion:PI and RI values are decreased with CIN lesions. Nevertheless, the difference is not large enough to implement these values in current cervical cancer screening program.
