description | This paper studies the prevalence of alcoholism in the presence of well established compulsory isolation treatment facilities by means of mathematical modeling. Establishment of these facilities aimed at facilitating smooth recovery process of alcoholics from the state of addictions. For biological relevance, a thorough examination of the vector fields of the model system is used to prove the well-posedness of the model. The equilibria of the model and alcohol regeneration ratio, Ra are computed and analyzed qualitatively. The Alcohol-free equilibrium point was proved to be globally asymptotically stable when Ra<1 and unstable otherwise. While the establishment of compulsory isolation treatment facilities offers no protection to Susceptible population, S(t), its significant effects to the model cannot be overemphasized. The numerical simulation suggests that implementation of compulsory isolation treatment facilities is an effective intervention as it has direct effects in the targeted Alcoholic population, A(t) with immediate effects of decreasing the population drastically from its initial quantity. |
