description Objective: to analyze the association between good obstetric practices and types of delivery. Methods: a cross-sectional study, carried out with 207 pregnant women admitted to two reference maternity hospitals, whose data were collected through a questionnaire and chart analysis and analyzed by Pearson’s chi-square test. Results: it was observed that the parturients with vaginal delivery were oriented about relaxation techniques and non-pharmacological measures for pain relief, encouraged not to remain in bed and to use the Swiss ball. In contrast, women who underwent a cesarean section reported not receiving such interventions. The use of squatting exercises, massages, hot baths and encouragement not to wander were mentioned less frequently by the participants, regardless of the route of delivery. Conclusion: it was observed that good obstetric practices were associated with the normal delivery route, while in cesarean delivery, such practices were implemented less frequently.
