Description
Summary:
With the development of the Internet and the emergence of Web 2.0, a revolution in the approach to electronic texts has begun – from the author’s, the publisher’s and the reader’s point of view. Social reading online is a new reading technique that has emerged. The most comprehensive work on the subject and at the same time the publication which is being analyzed in this article is Social Reading: Platforms, Applications, Clouds and Tags from 2013. It is the result of work undertaken by a team of four researchers from the Spanish University of Salamanca, which included: José-Antonio Cordón-García, Julio Alonso-Arévalo, Raquel Gómez-Díaz and Daniel Linder. They define social reading as “reading carried out on virtual environments where book and the reading favor the formation of «community» and a means of exchange”. This article contains a overview of the publication and main conclusions presented in it.
