Description
Summary:Cracks will inevitably occur in concrete structural during the normal use phase due to load action, fatigue effect, and environmental corrosion. Concrete resistance can reflect some internal concrete damage. In this work, three-point bending tests were performed on concrete beams. We simultaneously measured the concrete beam resistance before and after cracking to investigate the feasibility of resistance measurement for achieving self-monitoring of concrete cracking and crack development. This work provides a methodology for the monitoring of engineering structures. It establishes a quantitative reference for the relationship between the number of steel fibers used and their conductive and mechanically sensitive properties.
