| description | The article examines the socio-biographical portrait of gendarmerie officers who served in the Kaluga province in the last third of the XIX century: social origin, educational level, career path from the assignment of the first officer rank and entry into service in a Separate Corps of gendarmes. The analysis of incentives and awards received in the service, monthly maintenance, marital status was carried out. It is established that for 8 officers out of 13, service in a Separate Corps began with the post of adjutant in the Kaluga province. Among these persons was a participant in the Russian-Turkish War of 1877 – 1878 (А.N. Vaulin). The service of four officers took place during the reign of Emperor Alexander II (1855 – 1881). Moreover, the service of one of them (S.N. Shmakov) took place at the junction of the reigns of two emperors: Alexander II and Alexander III (1881-1894). Seven people served on the board of the latter. Two touched upon the reign of Emperor Nicholas II (1894 – 1917). Relying on a wide range of published sources, the authors trace the fate of some of these people after the revolutionary events of 1917, during the Civil War and during the years of emigration. |
