description Nowadays, more and more literary data are reported which demonstrate that oral lesions, especially leukoplakia and lichen, occur more often in patients with diabetes mellitus. In our article, we used publications in the PubMed between 1988 and 2017 about the relationship between diabetes mellitus and oral lichen. The incidence of lichen planus among diabetics is 2,52%, in the control group 0,97%, and the incidence of diabetes among lichen planus patients is 23,32%. Studies show that lichen planus, as one of the most common precancerosus lesions, is closely related to diabetes, therefore the oral and metabolic control of the affected patient group requires special attention and interdisciplinary collaboration.
