description This article provides an overview of remedies for child rights violations in the African Human rights system. Principally the focus is on the communications procedure under the Africa Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC). However, the process under the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights is referred to, as are possibilities at the level of regional courts. The impact of the decisions on communications handed down to date is discussed, as are the remedies that the Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child has fashioned. Implementation of recommendations is a theme throughout the article.1 Challenges and areas for improvement are reflected upon, and a conclusion of the current state of play is provided.
