Description
Summary:The transition to renewable energy sources for a sustainable, low-carbon future is driven by the need for the mitigation of climate change. The integration of RES-based systems and storage units can deal with the intermittent nature of natural variables. The selection of storage technology is determined by various parameters related to space, topography and water resource availability. In the present study, two different storage methods, wind-powered pumped hydro storage and hydrogen fuel cells, are compared in terms of fulfillment energy and water demand of a small Aegean Sea island for the project’s 25-year lifespan.
