Description
Summary:This article focuses on the personality of seniors in postmodern world. Author shows the concepts of continuity and discontinuity of elderly people personality in modern times. Postmodernity and the changes which take place within the society become increasingly studied phenomenon. Social transformations, including cultural, technological or social changes affect elderly people who have to find themselves in a reality so different from the one previously known to them. Respect for the elders’ wisdom and a tribute to history are not as obvious values as they used to be a few years ago. Concepts describing the continuity of personality of elderly people suggest that people have the same characteristics during the whole life (continuity) or that their personality can change by numerous crises and external factors (discontinuity). The way elderly people adjust themselves to the postmodern realities has an impact on positive or negative ageing.
