description The linear contraction and hot tearing behavior of 9Cr3Co3W heat-resistant steel during solidification were studied by combining in-situ casting experiments and the corresponding numerical simulations. The linear contraction, stress and temperature of the samples were detected during solidification. The results show that the linear contraction of 9Cr3Co3W heat-resistant steel was 1.7% in the sand mold. Meanwhile, the critical temperature and stress of the hot tearing that occurred at the hot spot were 1304 °C and 0.72 MPa, respectively. The occurrence of hot tearing was observed at the tip of secondary dendrites along the primary dendritic arms, where the solute elements were significantly enriched at the final solidification.
