Description
Summary:Cahier de verdure is Philippe Jaccottet’s first book which includes both prose writings and poems. This first heterogeneous form can be doubled by further typographical and enonciatory differences between three kinds of texts in this collection. After describing them, I have tried to show that these differences correspond to three mode of tackling reality - taking notes with the passing days, thinking over some striking event and successively reformulating the feeling or allowing the dust to settle and condensing. In this respect, Cahier de verdure is at the same time in continuity with Philippe Jaccottet’s former poetical research where the three kinds of writing already existed, yet a new step, as their comparison erases the opposition between continuous/discontinuous which, according to Jaccottet, respectively characterize prose and poetry.
