| description | La Poste’s status has changed in 1991. It stopped being part of the state to become a public firm. Thus it has undertaken a twofold development. On the one hand, it has become autonomous from the state and gained an institutional existence of its own, which allows to consider it as a collective being. On the other hand, this autonomy has paradoxically endangered it, since at the same it has provided it its formal autonomy, it has put its stability at risk. A non-official voting (“votation citoyenne”) was held in 2009. In this article, I analyze it not only as a symptom of the various threats faced by La Poste but also as a way to capture its nature as a collective being. Thus, La Poste’s collective being is highlighted through the risks it is facing as well as through the attempts to define and rescue it. |
