Summary:The tidal model is an explanation for the care services offered in mental health and psychiatric nursing to the paradigm shift in illness-health axis. Using the Recovery approach in model construction, the attitude towards a mentally challenged individual is redefined independently of the diagnosis and treatment processes. The purpose of this article is to introduce the model and discuss its portability to the field of mental health and psychiatric nursing practice.
