description Dialogue is always some form of exchange. The main purpose of the dialogue is contained in the listening and understanding of the other, in his understanding of our view of the content being discussed. A good conversational interlocutor can be a mirror of ourselves, enable us to have a better insight into the truth about ourselves. The paper starts from the primordial definitions of language and speech, gives an overview of the philosophical and religious aspects of dialogue, leading to the conclusion about the therapeutic role of dialogue which it assumes when the “living word” reveals the inner speech or condition of the interlocutor.
