description In this article, we aimed to comprehend the discursive functioning of international events on the Portuguese Language, organized and promoted by International Institute of Portuguese Language (IIPL), from the textualization available in the events’ web site. For that purpose, we adopted the theoretical-methodological perspective of Discourse Analysis based on the work by Michel Pêcheux and Eni Orlandi, articulated to the History of Linguistic Ideas.
