Description
Summary:To evaluate the effect of different types of packages and environmental conditions on the physiologicalquality of maize seeds variety “Aliança”, during 214 days, the following packages were used: PET bottles, Tetra Paktype and cotton bags, in a cold environment and at room temperature in Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ, Brazil. Theexperimental design was a completely randomized block, with three replications, in split plot, where the plot was thestorage environment, and the subplot made by a 3 x 4 factorial, packaging and storage. In addition to the germinationtests, electrical conductivity and cold tests were performed. Assessments were made at 61, 122, 183 and 214 days ofstorage. It was found that the seeds packed in PET bottles maintained the germination rate and seed vigor, and wasconsidered the best container, over the 214 days of storage, regardless of the storage environment. The seeds stored atcold temperature outperformed with respect to those stored in the natural environment.
