description Currently the tendency in industry is to reduce the production price of the finished product. One of the most costly components of the final product is electricity. By lowering energy consumption, withoutchanging the quality of the product, production costs may become more reduced while environment will also be protected. Using the ELTA 1D commercial software, this paper has looked at the possibility to reduce energy consumption while tempering (hardening) a piece byelectromagnetic induction. It will make a comparison of the electrical parameters of a surface thermal treatment (hardening) installation when using a concentrator for electromagnetic field lines and in the situation when the concentrator is not used.
