Description
Summary:The paper shows the place of the Syrmian Front in the collective memory during the period from 1945 to 2015. The Syrmian Front is a controversial topic, which is why the public is divided today as regards its evaluation. Seven decades after the end of World War II, its living witnesses and participants are rare, and the Syrmian Front slowly transits into the cultural memory. The cultural memory is used to create historical continuity of the Republic of Serbia with the former Yugoslav republics, which should be built on new foundations. The Syrmian Front is just one of those places where the cultural memory of the events from World War II is being built upon, on the territory of Serbia.
