Summary:In the literary review the modern data proving an important physiological role of vitamin D and its deficiency for women’s health in postmenopausal period is presented. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with health risks including the cardiovascular diseases, cancer, strength of bones, obesity, insulin resistance, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, mental health problems. High percentage of women of postmenopausal age is deficient in vitamin D, medicamentous correction of vitamin D deficiency can have a huge impact on the health care strategy in the prevention of various diseases in postmenopausal period.
